WHY CAN’T I BE ME? AROUND YOU

Directed by Harrod Blank, Sjoerd Dijk

Harrod Blank (AUTOMORPHOSIS) and his father, legendary documentarian Les Blank (BURDEN OF DREAMS) participated in SFF 2010. When Harrod’s camera-covered van breaks down in New Mexico he meets Rusty Tidenberg – a machining savant with a love of biking and drag racing. Rusty is also transitioning – having recently added a set of breasts.  An array of colorful characters and their automorphosis creations tell their story, but at the core of it all is Rusty – who is embracing both genders while hoping for acceptance and love.

Harrod Blank directed AUTOMORPHOSIS, which screened at SFF 2010.
